The Hidden Hive, Rosliston
I was really lucky to be able to shoot Samarah and Joe’s wedding at The Hidden Hive, as up until a few days before they hadn’t booked a photographer. They were planning on having a friend take their photos, but he had a last minute commitment and couldn’t make it, so I stepped in with just a few days notice.
The couple got married in the meadow at Hidden Hive with a really personal service led by Ceremonies by Leni Robson. It was a scorching hot day without any shade so when Samarah took the bride’s perogative of being late for her own wedding, the groomsmen were kept busy running back and forth to the tipi for jugs of water to stop the congregation from dropping.
The couple had taken handmade wedding to a whole new level with so much of their day being hand crafted to a really high standard. They had made their own wooden wedding arch, died their own fabric for bunting and napkins, and had pyrographed hundreds of wooden favours, not to mention all the signage. All the little details were a joy to photograph and really added a personal touch to their day.
Having a florist in the family is always handy and the flowers were beyond luxurious as they were made by Joes aunty who is one half of Honeysuckle and Castle. The bouquet was the most extravagent I’ve ever seen and the tipi was decorated to the nines!
In the evening we struck lucky with a stunning sunset so I was able to catch some gorgeous colourful portraits of the happy couple and some fun ones involving spacehoppers!
