Elvaston Park Engagement Shoot
This shoot was an engagement gift to Sharon and Dan from Sharon’s aunty who I used to work with a long time ago, back before I was a photographer. She’d seen my work on Facebook and got in touch. I was happy to provide her with a gift certificate to give to the couple so that they could book the shoot with me at a time to suit them.
I got up bright and early to meet Sharon and Dan at Elvaston Park in Derby on the morning of Christmas Eve. We hoped to have the place to ourselves; and aside from one or two more hardy dog walkers who had ventured out on that chilly Decmber morning, we succeeded.
Elvaston Park was special to the couple as Dan’s dad is vicar at St Bartholomew’s church which is in the grounds. We captured the church in the background of several of the pictures. I particularly love the image above as I barely recognise it as a location in Derby, it looks more like a romantic back street in an old town like York or Cambridge. Finding surprising places on my doorstep is always a highlight of engagement shoots.
We also took a lot of pictures beside the lake with Elvaston Castle in the background. This particular spot is where the couple often stop and take selfies and pictures of the dog when they are out walking so it was a nice opportunity to get some more professional shots of a favoured location.
