The city of Derby has lots of great wedding venues to choose from, before you even start looking at the wider selection that the county has to offer. Within the city centre, take your pick from heritage mills, the worlds first factory, museums, art galleries, libraries and ancient coaching inns. Use a city steeped in history as the backdrop to your big day.
The city of Derby has roots right back to Roman times when the town of Derventio was first established. Some remains of the Roman settlement can still be seen just around the corner from where I live in Little Chester.
Derby has grown from market town to industrial hub, with the worlds first factory not just still standing but home to a wedding venue! Derby is now a centre for advanced transport manufacturing and it is said you are never more than 6 feet away from a Rolls-Royce employee in Derby. I'm certainly not, I married one!
From Derby's beautiful mill buildings, to it's stunning churches and Cathedral, there's a massive choice of wedding venues within the city. You can even get married amongst the works of Derby's most famous painter (and a personal favourite of mine) Joseph Wright.
A walk through Derby's beautiful Cathedral Quarter streets will always reward you with some stunning candid images, and with the River Derwent and some lovely outdoor green spaces nearby, wedding photography is a breeze.
