Wedding Photography at Makeney Hall Hotel

Makeney Hall Hotel

Makeney Hall Hotel in Belper, Derbyshire is a short 15 minute drive from me and is one of the first venues I photographed back in 2017.

I love shooting at Makeney its such a versatile space and is great for keeping all the elements of your day in one place. With a stunning bridal suite and plenty of rooms for guests to stay over, it makes it really easy for me to take getting-ready shots with all members of your party.

My favourite space at Makeney Hall Hotel has to be the outdoor ceremony area. A rustic wooden pagoda shelters you and your guests from rain but is open on all sides so you still feel like you’re outside. It is set within the beautiful gardens which are perfect for portraits later in the day.

Group shots are easy as Makeney Hall hotel as there is a large lawn and plenty of shade, plus its easy to pop up to one of the first floor windows to get a overhead shot of all your guests.

As well as the bar and drawing room there is a choice of three large rooms to host your wedding breakfast and party. I personally love the conservatory as the light in there is great as the sun starts to go down.

I’m a big fan of an indoor portrait so as well as getting you out into the gardens for some shots I’ll also encourage you to get some shots together using some of the great spaces inside. The bar has gorgeous art deco wallpaper and the Lavinia Suite has a massive dark wood fireplace. Even the halls and staircases at Makeney Hall Hotel are photogenic.

You can find out more about Makeney Hall Hotel by visiting their website here.

Have a look below at some of the images I’ve taken at this great Derbyshire venue and please drop me a line if you want to have a chat about whether I’d be a good fit for your big day.
